Large Red Gold Ring, India
Bold, but not too flashy.
Recycled. Fair Trade. Handmade.
These large red gold rings are handcrafted by a group of nearly 80 artisans in Old Delhi, India. These artisans carefully bend, etch, bead, and polish jewelry from glass, stones, upcycled metal as well as seeds, wires, and other materials.
Ornate jewelry is a cultural tradition in India that has been handed down throughout many generations.
These artisans have partnered with Matr Boomie, a fair trade company that works with 20,000 artisans in 40 communities throughout India!
One of their success stories includes a young girl, Sana, who contacted Matr Boomie in 2009. Her family and community were tired of the exploitative treatment they were receiving from local tradesmen. Since working with Matr Boomie, their earnings have doubled, they have upgraded their workplace, and children are able to stay in school longer. Sana was even the first girl in her village to attend college!!
