These hand-painted whimsical critters have been used to detect temblors or seismic activity. They are also popular with children and will bring a smile to your face!

Crafted out of gourds by the Nahua people. The Nahua call these creatures "Tlaolini", which means earthquake.

Established in 1972, Costello International serves more than 200 artisan families in the Sierra Madre Mountains of Southern Mexico. For over 50 years, Costello has supported thousands of talented artisans and have funded more than 60,000 crafting projects.
